Dra. Susana Zúñiga
A physician who believes that every patient deserves to be heard, understood, and cared for as a whole person.

Medicine has always surrounded Susana Zúñiga. Born into a family of physicians — her father, mother, and even grandparents all practiced — it seemed the most natural path in the world. Yet she chose graphic design first.
It was only when helping a partner study for medical school that a new possibility emerged. “You’re actually really good at this,” she was told. “You should study medicine.” She took that leap, enrolled at the Universidad de Guadalajara, and discovered that what came naturally was not design — but diagnosis.
Looking back, she calls it one of the best decisions she has ever made.
The name Begin Again was born during the most difficult period of her life. Suddenly without a job and raising a young daughter alone, the only thing that remained was her medical education.
From that crisis came an identity that would define not only her clinic but her philosophy: You Can Always Begin Again.
It is a message she repeats to patients every day. Whether facing a health crisis, emotional challenge, or major life transition, the opportunity to rebuild remains. The name is not marketing. It is autobiography.
Early in her career, Susana worked in a clinic where the medical director was already incorporating therapies outside the conventional scope — IV therapies, acupuncture, ozone, homotoxicology, regenerative approaches. Each new tool led naturally to the next.
When she began treating American patients and attending conferences in the United States, one term surfaced repeatedly: functional medicine. The Institute for Functional Medicine confirmed what she had long suspected — that the comprehensive patient evaluation was the missing piece in conventional practice.
Instead of asking “What disease does this patient have?” functional medicine asks “Why did this disease develop in this particular person?” That question changed everything.
Some of Susana’s patients arrive having seen eight, ten, even fifteen specialists before reaching her clinic. They carry diagnoses that conventional medicine struggles to address — chronic Lyme disease, mold illness, Long COVID, complex autoimmune conditions.
Clinical practice guidelines are essential, she explains, but they have limits. A Lyme patient may complete standard antibiotic protocols yet continue suffering from persistent inflammation, mitochondrial dysfunction, and immune dysregulation that standard approaches do not address.
Every patient is different. Their genetics, epigenetics, environmental exposures, and lifestyle all influence how their body responds to illness. Two patients with the same diagnosis may have completely different underlying drivers.
That is where functional medicine becomes invaluable. Not the same treatment for everyone, but a personalized plan built on each patient’s biology.
Susana’s treatment approach integrates a sophisticated array of tools coordinated around each patient’s specific needs. Peptide therapy — particularly BPC-157 and TB-500 for tissue repair, GHK-Cu for female patient protocols, and GLP-1 receptor agonists for metabolic health — has become an increasingly important component.
She first encountered peptides in 2016 through a visiting physician from California and has since watched the field expand considerably. Stem cell therapy using mesenchymal cells from donated umbilical cord tissue, ozone therapy for immune modulation, IV nutrient protocols, and comprehensive detoxification programs all have their place. But the key is not the therapy itself — it is choosing the right therapy at the right time for the right patient.
No two protocols are identical.
What Susana is most proud of is the atmosphere. At Begin Again, patients do not see the physician once and then spend the rest of their treatment with staff. She remains closely involved throughout their care, monitoring progress and adjusting protocols as each body responds.
The clinic was intentionally designed not to be high-volume. Personalized, human-centered care produces better outcomes — and that requires time. Many of the therapies offered here are well known to patients in the United States. What makes the difference is the environment.
Patients who travel for treatment often stay a month or longer. They become family. Former patients become close friends. And watching someone walk in exhausted and hopeless, then gradually recover their confidence and joy — that, she says, is Begin Again.
